A little over a week ago we joined Alix & Stephen for their Wedding in Bromley, starting at The Bromley Court Hotel for a few photographs of Stephen and Best Man Phil and then a very cosy Bride @ Home with just Alix and her friend Sam who was helping to create the amazingness.
IT has to be said that Alix is one of the coolest Brides we’ve ever met and if she was nervous at all, she hardly showed it but there was no question that she was very excited indeed.
From from the Hotel, we made our way ahead of Alix to Bellingham Green, just a few minutes down the road to St. Dunstan’s Church where we met Father David Riley, an lovely man with a very liberal attitude to photography. We wish more members of the clergy were as accommodating as he is because we believe that the most beautiful parts of the day are during the ceremony itself and that not being allowed to photograph them is a real shame.
After some candids inside the church we waited outside for Alix making sure to capture her arrival as completely as possible.
Because we were allowed to photograph the ceremony we were able to get some lovely expressions, lots of Congregational candids and of course the exchange of rings, all very important.
Once the ceremony had finished and the registers had been signed we all met outside where a Routemaster bus was waiting to take everyone back to The Hotel where the reception was to be held.
We raced ahead, letting the driver know that it would be amazing if he could give us a little bit of a headstart, little did we know that he had planned a 30 minute tour so we were waiting at the Hotel like lurking paparazzi oblivious to what had happened. Luckily we met some of Alix’s friends, Anthony and Gemma who were just as baffled as we were as to where the Wedding Party had gone.
Luckily though everyone soon returned safe and sound and we were into cocktail hour during which time we photographed lots of groups and candids and of course some fancy shots of Alix & Stephen in the grounds of the Hotel which were very pretty indeed.
Straight afterwards with a tight schedule to follow we spent a few minutes photographing details and then the guests were allowed into the Wedding Breakfast shortly followed by the Bride and Groom.
While guests are eating we get some downtime ourselves, occasionally peeking in between courses to photograph some candid moments which are always cool.
During this time we were joined by DJ Tony Lloyd from Marden in Kent who has worked with The Bromley Court for many years and shared loads of interesting facts with us about what he does and how he does it. We get to hear a lot of DJs as you can probably imagine and Tony is fantastic so if you’re looking for someone who really knows how to get the party rocking, visit his web site or give him a call.
After some brief but touching speeches, and while the guests were ushered to the bar area for tea and coffee, we took a few more photographs of Alix & Stephen, this time inside the hotel before headed back for more candid of the guests to wait for the function band and Tony to set up in the main room.
We also managed to get some awesome shots of the happy couple as the sun started to sink below the clouds which were really romantic.
Pretty soon the room was set and Alix & Stephen performed their first dance to a cover of Ellie Goulding’s version of Elton John’s ‘Your Song’ which was this time sung by Alix herself which was really lovely.
With a mixture of live music and Tony’s excellent DJ skills the rest of the evening gave us plenty of opportunity for party shots and before long and after what seemed like no time at all, it was home time and we left everyone in great spirits and having lots of fun.
Our journey home is always really cosy. We chat about our experiences from the day, what we’ve enjoyed and who we thought was amazing and how much fun we had and of course trying to predict how well we had managed to capture it all.
From the time of our original meeting with them , through their epic 4 hour Engagement Shoot in the snow in Richmond, to their Wedding Day, we’ve developed quite a soft spot for Alix & Stephen. They really are a lovely couple and we’d like to think we did them proud. We wish them lots of love and best wishes for their future together.
